The overall objective of the project is to enhance the research, development, and innovation capacity of the participating companies, by developing an advanced RDI infrastructure within a consortium led by AUDIT IT&C SRL, together with partners WING COMPUTER GROUP SRL and the National Research and Development Institute for Environmental Protection (INCDPM). The project aims to establish a Research Center for Advanced Energy Storage Systems, which will support the technological maturation and application validation of innovative hybrid energy storage solutions, based on complementary battery and hydrogen technologies, integrated with digital control platforms and smart monitoring systems. The goal of the investment is to develop a multidisciplinary RDI structure that will enable applied research, design, testing, and the transfer of technological solutions in areas of high strategic impact, such as critical infrastructure, green energy, operational security, and the circular economy. The proposed infrastructure will include thematic laboratories, testing equipment, software components based on artificial intelligence, and facilities for the functional demonstration of results, both in controlled environments and under conditions relevant to end users. The project aims to lay the groundwork for the development of innovative products and services, tailored to market demands and aligned with the green and digital transition, thereby contributing to increased competitiveness among consortium members and the strengthening of the regional innovation ecosystem. At the same time, through the collaborative nature of the initiative, the project leverages the complementary expertise of the three entities, stimulates synergies in research and development activities, and promotes the transfer of knowledge and technologies to actors in key economic sectors. Overall, the project contributes to achieving the objectives of the Central Region Program by generating robust, replicable, and sustainable internal innovation capabilities with direct applicability in the industries of the future.
Specific objectives:
- A primary specific objective is the establishment and operation of a Research Center for Advanced Energy Storage Systems, organized into dedicated thematic laboratories: Mobile Battery Laboratory; Battery Testing Laboratory; Hydrogen Laboratory, equipped with state-of-the-art testing, analysis, and simulation equipment capable of supporting applied and multidisciplinary R&D activities.
- A second objective focuses on developing and validating innovative products and services within the center, including containerized energy storage solutions, autonomous power supply modules for critical infrastructure, and digital platforms for real-time management and diagnostics of energy systems, with the integration of artificial intelligence components for optimization and predictive maintenance. The partners’ complementary expertise plays a decisive role in achieving this objective: AUDIT IT&C SRL brings its know-how in mobile power supply solutions, WING COMPUTER GROUP SRL integrates digital platforms and AI technologies, and INCDPM contributes advanced expertise in sustainability and environmental impact.
- Another key objective is to ensure the sustainable and integrated operation of the new center within the regional innovation ecosystem by developing partnerships with research institutions, universities, and relevant industry stakeholders, with a view to strengthening technology transfer capabilities and commercializing research results through scalable products with market potential. The project also aims to strengthen the internal capabilities of the consortium members by forming a multidisciplinary R&D team capable of managing the entire innovation lifecycle—from idea, to a validated prototype, and subsequently transferred to the market—as well as creating the conditions for the continuous generation of innovative ideas and solutions through a structured innovation management process.
- A final priority objective is to align the RDI infrastructure and the results achieved under the project with the strategic directions of the green and digital transition, thereby directly contributing to the achievement of climate neutrality, operational sustainability, and energy security objectives, in accordance with the DNSH principles and the sustainability requirements established under the Central Region Program.
Expected results:
- The results of the R&D activities will be disseminated through the submission of two articles—one to a specialized conference and the other to a specialized journal—addressing topics of current interest in the field of applied research conducted as part of the project.
- Establishment and Launch of the Research Center for Advanced Energy Storage Systems
- 4 innovations developed as part of research and development activities
- 11 people were trained in the following areas: Process Improvement Manager Course (2 people trained); Waste Management Officer Course (2 people trained); Environmental Officer Course (2 people trained); Hydrogen Course (5 people trained).
- Equipping the research center with 24 pieces of tangible equipment distributed across the three laboratories
